The PROTECT Student Athletes Act would ban college sports prop bets.

PROTECT = Providing Responsible Oversight and Transparency by Ensuring Collegiate Trust

Prop bets are wagers about things related to the game, but without a direct impact on who wins – for example: which color Gatorade that players will dump on their winning head coach.

Washington Republican Rep. Michael Baumgartner introduced it in the House.
